[dropcap size=dropcap]R[/dropcap]umors about a new Fallout game have started immediately after Zenimax Media Inc, the company that owns the Bethesda studios, registered a new website, The Survivor 2299.
On that specific web page we can see a countdown and a sound identified by some Reddit users as Morse code. Deciphered by the fans, the message is 12/11/13. Therefore, we are expecting at that specific date, December 11, 2013 a new Fallout game to be announced.
Fans speculation and rumors do not stop here however, as the majority of them believe the numbers from the page title to be the year in which the story and action will develop in the new Fallout game. That would mean that the story will take us almost 20 years after the events that took place in New Vegas.
There are however many other people who doubt the veracity of the new site and the rumors that were spread immediately after it went online. They base their suspicions on some rather hard to dismiss facts such as:
- The domain was registered through the Go Daddy services. Until now, Bethesda has been using the Corporate Domains to register their website domains.
- The IP of the specific website is not from WashingtonDC, where the studios are, but from somewhere in Poland.
It remains to be seen whether Bethesda are really ready to reveal a new Fallout title or not. We know that in June, this year, Pete Hines, vice president of ZeniMax, told us not to expect news about a new Fallout video game too soon. Not this year, however. Therefore, we are more than eager to find more about this piece of news and we hope that it is not just another elaborate hoax.
