Sony responds to PS4 glitch reports with guide

[dropcap size=dropcap]S[/dropcap]ony has published a troubleshooting guide for PlayStation 4 holders experiencing a repeated ‘blinking blue light’ on their latest consoles, which appears to signify an issue with video output or hardware.

As said by consumer reports on Amazon, YouTube and Twitter, issues linked with the ‘blue light of death’ (a reminder to Xbox 360’s villainous ‘red ring of death’) comprise no audio or video output, or consoles powering off without prompting. The exact reason for this error is presently uncertain, even though Sony has accepted that the issue could lie — very largely — with television compatibility, problems with the PS4 power source, problems with the PS4 hard drive, or problems with other PS4 hardware.

If you are experiencing this issue, Sony suggests switching off your PlayStation 4 totally and holding down the power switch for no less than seven seconds (awaiting the system to beep two times), disengaging your PS4 AC power cable from the electrical hole, and confirming evidently spoiled parts – this comprises the system’s HDMI port, which has been the source of a current publicized problem.  Obviously, test all cables and input settings, as well.

Failing that, Sony suggests getting in touch with PS4 customer support, while the publisher persists to look into the root of the issue.

Reports of different PlayStation 4 problems have been coming in this week.

“There have been a number of issues reported, which leads us to suppose there is not a particular issue that could impact a wider percentage of systems,” Sony held in a statement earlier in the week. “The quantity of affected systems stands for below .4% of shipped pieces so far, which is within our anticipations for a novel product introduction.”
