Magicka: Wizard Wars Enters Open Beta

Paradox Interactive announced in a press release – published on Tuesday, May 27 – that it’s free-to-play PvP-focused pseudo-MMO Magicka: Wizard Wars will be entering Open Beta on the same day, allowing for any and all players to join in on the spell casting fun and mayhem that Magicka is famous for.

Players will be able to engage in either 4-v-4 or 1-v-1 gamemodes, and the game boasts that skill-based spell casting will win you the day. However, friendly fire will always be on – so be careful where you cast your spells!

When playing the game, two teams pit themselves against each other by utilizing the same spell casting system as featured in Magicka, which is to combine different elemental magicks to produce destructive (or hilarious) results. The same applies for when two players want to see who has the bigger staff in an one-on-one duel.

Now that the game is in Open Beta, additional content has been added to Magicka: Wizard Wars, such as a new Wizard Warfare map, a new Magick, and new cosmetic times to boot.

With the new Wizard Warfare map, you’ll now be able to duke it out in the dark caves of Galdrhöll Halls, a place where your spells will truly shine the brightest. The new Magick, “Raise Dead”, conjures up undead zombie imps to aid you in obliterating your enemies. As for the cosmetic items: new robes, staffs and unique skins are now available to make yourself look fabulous before the remains of your said cosmetic items are plastered onto the nearby wall.

Magicka: Wizard Wars is available to download via Steam’s Early Access. Typically you’d have to pay way into playing an Early Access game, but now that Magicka: Wizard Wars is in Open Beta you’re now able to play the game for free.
