A strange, yet entertaining video (see below) has been uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Mercedes Benz Japan showcasing the Mercedes Benz GLA as well as an announcement regarding how players will be able to drive the car in Nintendo’s upcoming Mario Kart 8. Although the advertisement is Japanese, the possibility of the DLC coming to other countries isn’t completely ruled out as Nintendo UK have said the following:
“As for the information relating to the distribution of the GLA kart for MK8 outside Japan, we will be able to announce in the near future.“
There is no set release date for the DLC, although it will be free to download and should be available sometime during the summer. The video shows an 8-bit Mario jumping into the Mercedes Benz GLA, in which he drives his way through enemies and eventually makes it to the finish line so to speak. A transition is then made to real life – here we see a quite menacing looking Mario step out of the car who shortly gets “attacked” by a goomba. Why can’t we have advertisements like that over here?

Mario Kart 8 is to hit shelves May 30 for Wii U, and will feature the usual karts, bikes, and ATV’s we’ve gotten used to in previous titles, however the hand glider is to make its debut – this allows players to navigate parts of the courses whilst taking to the skies.
