Nintendo Trademarks Possible Pokémon Emerald Remake

If you remember the third generation of Pokémon, you may recall there being three games: Pokémon RubyPokémon Sapphire and Pokémon Emerald. Since Nintendo seems to be going in a Pokémon remake spree, Ruby and Sapphire remakes have already been announced for the 3DS. So, what about a remake for Emerald?

Unlike the third game to the remakes of the second generation of Pokémon games – Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver, with a Pokémon Crystal remake seemingly nowhere to be seen – a remake of Pokémon Emerald may be somewhere in the pipeline, according to a trademark that Nintendo filed in Japan.

According to Gematsu, the trademark, entitled “Delta Emerald“, was filed back on Friday, May 2, and was publicly published on Thursday, May 29. Though an official announcement has yet to me made about a Pokémon Emerald remake, this trademark is so far the strongest evidence we have of the possibility of there being one.

Not to mention that the trademark’s naming style is very similar to the styles of the Ruby and Sapphire remakes: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire – the connection between the three is very palpable.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are slated to launch worldwide in November for Nintendo 3DS. Be sure to check out the games’ announcement trailer below.
