It’s an exciting time for Kingdom Hearts fans–E3 is almost here, and it’ll almost certainly bring us a new look at Kingdom Hearts 3. But let’s be honest, it’s going to be a long, long wait for Kingdom Hearts 3. Thankfully, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix for PS3 is on the way, hopefully before the end of the year.
The Official PlayStation Blog has the latest screenshots from the game, which features HD remasters of Kingdom Hearts 2 FINAL MIX, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep FINAL MIX, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded. As you can tell, the games look bright, clean and colorful. The blog notes that this is the first time Kingdom Hearts 2 FINAL MIX and Birth By Sleep FINAL MIX have come to North America; both games contain content that didn’t appear in the original games. If you missed out on the original versions of any of these games, HD 2.5 Remix will be the best way to play them.
No release date has been announced yet (we might hear something at E3 or later this summer at Tokyo Game Show), but Square-Enix expects to release the title globally this year. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix released last September, so expect 2.5 Remix to hit shelves around the same time.
