The most anticipated games at E3 2014 – What to expect

by GH Staff

With E3 just around the corner, we’re recapping some of the games that we’ll most likely be seeing, and some that we most likely won’t. To get the bad out of the way first, we’ll start with the bad news.

As many of you might have heard, it seems Bethesda won’t be announcing anything at this year’s E3. Yes folks, this means that no single-player Elder Scrolls VI will be revealed, and more importantly, no Fallout 4 will make an appearance. Bethesda officials outright stated that the company isn’t planning on revealing anything major for a long time. What exactly a “long time” means is uncertain, but we’re fairly sure it’s more than a few weeks (which is when E3 will be taking place).

That being said, on to the good news. EA has confirmed various titles for E3 this year. Among them is the casual-oriented, highly anticipated Sims 4, which is still (at least in theory) set for a fall 2014 release date. From the same studio, we’re expecting to see some sort of Battlefield reveal, and this will most likely be Battlefield Hardline, a title that has recently been leaked, and that will focus on a heist-based competitive multiplayer.

We don't know much about Mass Effect 4 yet, but we're likely to find out a lot at E3.

Bioware will also be strong on scene, with Dragon Age: Inquisition having a guaranteed presence. Since we know a lot about Inquisition, we’re not that hyped anymore, at least not compared to the excitement we share for a potential Mass Effect 4 reveal, which is extremely likely to happen. We’ve recently reported that Mass Effect 4 (or Mass Effect: Contact, if you will) already has a completed trailer, one that we can’t see a better place to be given the stage than E3 2014. If the game’s going to be present, it’s definitely going to be a show-stealer.

Also high-profile titles that we’re expecting to see are CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3, a game that has been pushed back to a February 2015 release date, and the PS4 exclusive The Order 1886, a game that has been similarly pushed back. For Xbox One exclusives, we’re keeping an eye on the new Halo game, one that we know is brewing, but a game we know little about so far.

There’s a really good chance we’ll be seeing a lot more about The Division at E3!

Ubisoft will also be there strong, with new updates on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Comet and Unity, as well as (hopefully) some insight into The Division, the post-apocalyptic MMOFPSRPGOMGIWANTITNOW game we’re all itching to try out. Of course, speaking about MMOFPSRPG’s, Bungie’s Destiny will also be present. And if that doesn’t satisfy your shooting fetishes, perhaps hunting monsters in Evolve will. Last but not least, Nintendo fans will also get their fix, as we’re expecting Hyrule Warriors to take the scene at E3. While this game isn’t your typical Zelda experience, it might just work brilliantly.

All in all, there’s a lot to look forward to, and we’re sure we’ll have our hands full with covering everything. Make sure to stay tuned to Gamerheadlines for the duration of the event for the latest updates and news. What games are you looking forward to seeing at E3 this year?
