Sony will Completely Stop Selling the PSP by Year's End

As reported by TIME on Tuesday, June 3, Sony Corporation will be discontinuing the PlayStation Portable in Japan and Europe after 10 years of being in the market.

Sony had already ended PSP shipments in North America earlier on this year in January, and it will stop selling the handheld in Japan this month in June. Europe will follow suit later on in the year.

According to TIME, discounts on the PlayStation Vita and its downloads are being offered to Japanese PSP owners. Such compensation has yet to be decided for overseas owners.

As of two years ago, the PSP sold more than 76 million units during its life time. The handheld was first launched back in December, 2004.

On a more lighter note, the PSP’s younger brother, the PlayStation Vita, has received a new design – the Slim version – and has also been bundled with the “PS Vita Action Mega Pack“, which is a package that includes five fast-paced, action-packed games.

There will be two versions of this bundle: one without the PlayStation Vita handheld, replaced instead with voucher that’ll allow you all five games; and the other with the PlayStation included. Both versions come included with a 8Gb memory card, and each will cost €199.99 (or your regional equivalent).
