As reported by by PCGamesN on Wednesday, June 3, Star Citizen’s long-awaited Arena Commander module is now final with us, despite it being delayed hours before its initial release due to un-squished bugs.
After steadily progressing through the list of what bugs needed to be weeded out before release, the game’s developer, Cloud Imperium Games, released Arena Commander v0.8 with an accompanying launch trailer.
For those who don’t know, Arena Commander is Star Citizen’s standalone dogfighting and flight module that also plugs into the game’s already-released Hanger module, which basically allows you to walk around in your very own hanger in-game (a hanger that houses your own pledged ship).
Arena Commander is described as the place where you’ll spend your first hours of flying in order to get accustomed to your ship’s controls and your skills as a pilot. You can either play by yourself in Free Flight mode or in the singeplayer version of the model’s horde mode, and new gamemodes will be added as they’re developed.
Right off the bat, the trailer claims that 100 percent of its footage was captured in-game during live gameplay, and the content that follows is quite astounding. See for yourself below.
Star Citizen is estimated to launch in 2015 for PC and Linux.
