Loadout Coming To PS4 Later This Year

by GH Staff
Loadout, the latest free-to-play title from developer Edge of Reality, has been confirmed to release exclusively for the PS4 sometime later this year.

Loadout is the newest creation from Texas-based developer Edge of Reality. The free-to-play title takes player-customization to a completely different level, as users not only change their character to their liking, but can build and modify an arsenal of guns from scratch. The wild, politically-incorrect and laughably offensive shooter was released last year through Edge of Reality, and would later on receive an official release through Steam.

The once PC-exclusive over-the-top shooter will be coming to Sony’s latest console, the PS4. A new post from the official PlayStation Blog by Edge of Reality Creative Director Mark Nau shows that Loadout will release as a free-to-play “console exclusive to PlayStation 4”. To clear up the usual confusion with “console exclusives”, Loadout will only be available for PC and later PS4; Loadout will not release on any other console. While Lau did not give specifics towards a release window, he states that the PS4 version of Loadout is undergoing gameplay changes in order to “feel right at home on DualShock 4”. The console version will remain free-to-play, just like its PC counterpart.

While it’s not mentioned in the article, the PC version of Loadout features an optional microtransaction model for users. While Loadout may not fall into the “pay-to-win” category of F2P titles, players have the option of using real-world money to purchase in-game currency. Players can earn in-game money by completing matches, and performing various actions to fulfill progression-based achievements; earned money can then be used to purchase more weapon parts and character customization items.

Again, Loadout will be available as a free-to-play title for PS4 sometime later this year, though no specific release date has been given. The PC version is currently available to download through Steam.
