On Friday the 13th, Apple called back millions of their iPhone chargers model A1300 due to possible malfunctions.
In a very rare occasion, the company announced a new program that calls iPhone users, in over 37 different countries, to switch out their old chargers for new ones.
The reason: possible malfunctions.
The old chargers pose a fire hazard due to the possibility that they may malfunction and overheat. Now the chances of this actually occurring are very slim but if the company’s paying for it – why not? The exchange excludes iPhones sold in the UK and is only subjected to those sold between October 2009 and September 2012. Newer phones are thus also excluded form the swap.
So how can I get the swap if I need one?
Your local ‘Apple Retail Store’ can swap them out for you and also any ‘Apple Authorized Service Provider’. You can also contact Apple Technical Support to arrange a swap with them. Third party purchases also receive a full refund.
