Yes, we know, fans of the series are already biting their fingers after reading the title of this peace of news. However, they should calm down for a second, because Assassin’s Creed Pirates has nothing to do with the original series. Or perhaps, more accurate would be to say it has little to do with the original series.
But how can it be an Assassin’s Creed game? Well, for instance, the game will have the same publisher, Ubisoft. And since Ubisoft owns the license for the Assassins Creed brand, they can do whatever they choose with it: in this case, a battleships combat game for iOS and Android mobile devices. And yes, we will have the same Assassin’s Creed Logo, the single and most unimportant thing that links the Pirates game to the Assassin’s Creed series. It’s nothing more than a simple case of greed. On one hand we have the millions of fans from all corners of the world and on the other hand, a huge company, Ubisoft and its need to exploit a successful franchise up to its limits.
Of course, Assassin’s Creed Pirates is meant to add up to the overall experience from AC4 Black Flag and exploit the pirate adventures theme a little bit more. Whether or not the game will fulfill its purpose, it remains to be seen. The waiting period is short, as the video game Assassin’s Creed: Pirates will be released for iOS and Android on December, 5, at a price of $5. Players will assume the role of a captain who will engage in naval battles against their enemies. Apart from the battles, players will also have to manage their crew, upgrade the ship and find hidden treasures, the supreme dream of a true medieval pirate.
In a recent announcement, Ubisoft also claims that Assassin’s Creed Pirates will be based on a brand new graphical engine that will suppose to test the powerful hardware configurations of the modern day’s smartphones and tablets. “Ubisoft Paris is developing a brand new mobile engine to bring groundbreaking 3D visuals to smartphones and tablets. As you sail those breathtaking moving waters and discover those lush islands, keep a watchful eye for the day’s cycle and the changing weather conditions that will directly impact gameplay!” said the official press release.
Do not imagine however that Assassin’s Creed Pirates will come to PC’s or consoles as well. Fortunately, it will be available only for iOS and Android and we really meant it when we used the word “fortunately”. If you want to buy the video game however, take a look at its first trailer:
