Going over today’s smart devices it’s always a good idea to compare it to another smart device. Today we go over the smart device to see which outperforms who, going over the design, display, sound, camera and battery life. Getting into as much detail as we can from processors to graphics to general user experience.
The Nokia Lumia 930 aims to change all that, and might just be the first really high-end smartphone that we see from the Finnish company. In fact, all signs point towards the fact that the Nokia 930 is the best Windows Mobile phone on the market.
- Design and Specifications
As angular and sharp as all other Nokia models, the expected dimensions of the Lumia 930 are 137 x 71 x 9.8 mm, 94.7 cc (or 5.39 x 2.80 x 0.39 in) weighing in at a moderate 167g. There are definitely heavier models of Nokia on the market, and competition that’re a little lighter and easier to get your hands around. But overall, there’s nothing too off-setting about the Nokia 930’s design. Taking into consideration its prior competition, it’s a step up from those models. So we can expect a far superior performance from the Nokia Lumia 930 than the available Nokia Lumia 525.
It’ll be released with a Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 OS and Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset. Along with the smartphone’s Quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400, you can count on a smoother ride unlike the predecessors of the Nokia series. One of the constant complaints that are on the Lumia 525 is its lagging processing power. In the market that offers faster phones with each interval, this’ll be Nokia Lumia’s 930’s chance to shine. It’ll come with an internal 32 GB, and 2 GB RAM. Sadly, there is no accessible cardslot to amplify the space. Which is a mark against the Lumia 930, since other models can be optimized for further space.
- Display and Audio
The interface is definitely going to be a step-up from the Lumia 525. In fact, even the Lumia 630/635 might have an issue in keeping up with these stats. The display on this model is an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, with 16M colors. At an impressive 1080 x 1920 pixels, 5.0 inches it hosts 441 ppi pixel density. Thus you can look forward to that extreme resolution on the accessible screen of the Lumia 930.
Audio is another realm altogether that the smartphone will surprise you with. It has a high-definition sound that is normally found in most Lumia models, but will also grant you a Dolby Digital Plus sound enhancement plus. So if you’re looking to make this your phone with a library of music and movies; it’ll be something to consider when you’re weighing in a potential purchase.

The video also isn’t anything to snub, considering that it’ll run at about 1080p at 30fp with add-on features such as video light, and stereo sound recording. In the long run, Nokia hasn’t really been known for dishing out models that are prepared to rival the $500+ smartphones that pride themselves on powerful cameras as well as fluid video recording.
But there is a good chance that the Lumia 930 is going to change that perception, and perhaps even future models of top-tier at Nokia will continue on this laden blueprint.
- Battery Life
The battery itself is going to be a Li-Ion 2420 mAh battery (BV-5QW) which isn’t exactly anything to get overly excited about. In this reviewer’s opinion, there’s a lot of reasons to be excited about the Nokia 930’s release. Chances are that you’ll probably be purchasing the phone for pleasure over business. Though, there’s no doubt that the Nokia Lumia 930 can be used for such, it’ll be constantly draining to the bare bone with each call and constant music circulation. Thus, the model will prove to be a little inconvenient if you’re looking to mix and match. One perk, however, is the fact that it’ll have a much crisper sound than its predecessors. The emphasis is going to be on the resolution of the screen as well as the upgraded audio that’ll be high-range for what you’re purchasing.
Speaking of purchase, we’ve yet to have a one-on-one about the price. The Nokia Lumia 525 is sitting around $100-150 at the moment with the Lumia 630/635 glossing in at about $150-180+ on a rough estimation. That’ll be coming out in May, by the way; whereas the Lumia 930 is due in June. But here’s the stickler, you’re going to be paying for a lot for the Nokia Lumia 930’s upgrades at $699.99 dollars on average. It’d probably prove to be a better expense of your efforts (and cash) to hop on over to the Sony Xperia Z2 when it releases.
With the battery being as low-grade as it is, and some of the specs still under-par, I wouldn’t spend much time debating the Lumia 930’s mark on the mobile market. If you’re looking for a significant Nokia smartphone, then of course it’ll be in your best personal interest to invest in the Nokia Lumia 930. But there are other models that might catch your eye first, if you’re not primarily looking to upsell your Nokia. Keep that in mind when you’re shopping!
