Excitement as PlayStation 4 Launches in UK

by GH Staff

At midnight as the PlayStation 4 finally hit stores, it was another gamers’ massive night. Even though the PlayStation has been predicted to sell out within a few hours of the launch, gamers had started queuing even three days before just to ensure they got the hands on one. It was the night PlayStation fans were waiting for all year long. The new PlayStation 4 has went on sale from midnight and all die-hard fans, some who had been in the queue since Tuesday, got one of their own. If you live in the United Kingdom and had not pre-ordered the game, standing in the cold night was the only way you could get one before Christmas. Currently, the PS4 is sold out in the whole country.

During the launch party last night, Tinie Tempah, a rap star, helped to keep the queuing crowd entertained. Lucky gamers such as Blaine Smith and Imran Choudhary who were at the queue’s front, got the console handed to them by the rap star. For the rest of the queuing fans, the PlayStation team had kindheartedly laid on Red Bull and Domino’s Pizza to keep the fans who had queued the whole day happy.

A fan by the name of Simon from Bedford said that he was there since 4 on Friday morning. He added that he could not wait to get his hands on the PS4 as he had gotten 4 days off from work and would use them to play the game non-stop. However, not all fans had to queue and stand in line.  A few of GAME’s lucky customers, who were among the first people to pre-order the PlayStation 4, had gotten invitations to go to London and collect their new gaming consoles in Covent Garden at the PlayStation lounge.

GAME’s Ian Chambers said that they could not wait to get the next generation gaming consoles into their customer’s hands. As a matter of urgency, they had hired 4,000 new staff in a bid to cope with the rising demand of the new console. Although stock was extremely limited, he said they would do their best to try and get a gaming console in everyone’s hand. MD and VP Ireland & UK at Sony Entertainment, Fergal Gara, said they were very excited about the PS4. It has the best architecture and has been fitted with crème-de-la-crème memory.

Even though the launch price of PS4 is £75 cheaper than that of PS3, it is actually ten times faster than its predecessor. The new Sony gaming console is to be the quickest selling they have ever dealt with and they were not surprised. The console came out the winner in a past Daily Star shoot-off between it and Xbox One.

Some of the launch titles are ‘Killzone Shadowfall’, ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’, ‘FIFA 14’, among others. It has a new wireless controller that a player can use to instantly show the world their level of expertise by using the new share button. Even though PS4 will set a buyer back £349 (keep in mind it is £80 cheaper than Xbox One), it does not include the Kinect camera present in Xbox.
