A trailer (see below) has been released showing off another playable character within Hyrule Warriors, an important one at that; Princess Zelda. She is seen elegantly floating down to the battlefield, then quickly summoning her sword, in which she hacks and slashes through a horde of enemies, mainly skeleton warriors. We also see bow and arrow gameplay and other various abilities that evidently make for lots of damage, making for easy enemy disposal.
The level seen looks as if it takes influence from fire dungeons throughout the Zelda franchise as we see molten lava, lava falls, and rock surfaces. Hyrule Warriors is a unique project in the sense its gameplay isn’t like previous Zelda titles we’ve become accustomed to – instead various characters, including series protagonist Link and others such as Impa and Agitha, will take part in fast-paced action set within the realm of Dynasty Warriors-influenced gameplay and relatable Zelda environments as the game is the work of both Nintendo and Tecmo Koei.
It’s certainly different, however this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Zelda step out of the norm – Link’s Crossbow Training comes to mind, even if it wasn’t the best of games. Hyrule Warriors will hit shelves August 14 2014 exclusively for Wii U.
