Though Bayonetta 2 is yet to be released talk has already turned to the third instalment in the series and whether it to will be a Nintendo exclusive. Platinum Games director Yusuke Hashimoto has spoken in glowing terms about his recent partnership with Nintendo and has stated in no uncertain terms, in an interview with CVG, that he would be happy to work with them again. This is all based on the back of the soon to be released Bayonetta 2 which will be a Wii U exclusive. The game is to be released with the original title as bonus content and, as anyone who has seen the photos can vouch, with a particularly Nintendo-centric bent.
Hashimoto stated; “We were able to have a lot of back-and-forth between Platinum Games and Nintendo and they were able to provide objective feedback; ‘Maybe that’s a little too much’, or, ‘maybe you should try this’. I feel that was really good and helped push Bayonetta 2 to even higher quality.
We started out with a fundamental freedom, with Nintendo telling us to go and create the game as we saw fit. But as the game started to take shape and we were starting to put all the pieces together, they were able to point out some things that we didn’t realise ourselves. That was really helpful for us.”
The result of Platinum games and Nintendo’s fruitful relationship will be available for all to see in October of this year. The exclusive move to Nintendo came as a surprise for many gamers after Bayonetta began life on the Play Station 3 and the Xbox 360. More than a few think Platinum Games should rethink their position but with Hashimoto talking in such adulating terms it seems Nintendo may hold on to the supple, agile witch for some time to come. He went on to say, “In terms of nurturing the content of this game, there’s a lot that we learned from Nintendo and if possible we would love to do it again and keep nurturing our child.”
