This fall we see the release of 2K Sports newest installment to the WWE franchise, WWE 2K15.
As a small WWE fan, and a lover of the games, I’m here to say what i’m looking forward too with the new game!

We are still yet to know who will be taking crown from The Undertaker, maybe an original legend, like Hulk Hogan. Or maybe a more Attitude Era legend, like Triple H. Either way, it will be money well spent for those hardcore WWE fans.
So who’s going to be in the game?
So far, only three names were announced at E3. These were : Hulk Hogan, Bray Wyatt, Antonio Cesaro and of course, John Cena.
I asked a friend of mine who is a huge WWE follower and someone who buys the limited edition WWE games, for his opinion on these four Superstars. He went on to say:
“Well it was undeniable that Cena was going to be in there. Hulk Hogan has wormed his was back in to WWE but I don’t really care much for him. He was cool 20/30 years ago but now he’s just not the same person he used to be. Every time he cuts a promo, something is botched and for the love of god half the time I can’t understand what he’s saying. I’m happy that Cesaro is on there cause because it kinda sucked back in the days of WWE 12′ when he wasn’t on there. He was only just gaining his name but at least with him on the game we can give him the real push we wish they’d actually give him instead of just hyping him then ending the story line mid-way though and acting as if it never existed. And finally Bray, what can you say, he’s one creepy sob but i’ll be happy to have him in there. It will be interesting to see what you can actually do. He’ll be the first fat guy in the current roster that has anything going for him on the game now that Tensai, another WWE superstar, doesn’t wrestle anymore and now Brodus, again another superstar, has been released.”
If you head on over too https://www.wwe.com/superstars, more than likely all of these people will be in the game, including fan favorites such as Cena, CM Punk, The Wyatt Family, Daniel Bryan. Even the least favorite people right now will be in the game, such as Triple H and his wife, Stephanie McMahon.
Whats the story this time?
WWE 13 saw ‘Attitude Era’. Attitude Era was the time between March 1998 and somewhere between 2001/2 . I would was it was the greatest era of professional wrestling. During this time we saw the birth of legends such as Stone Cold. We also got to see the amazing feuds that went on such as Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels and my personal favorite, Stone Cold and Vince McMahon. The game let you relive some of the best fights of the era, exactly like they happened.
WWE 2K14 gave us ’30 Years of WrestleMania’. This let you play some of the biggest fights of the biggest WWE event there is, WrestleMania. Personally, 2K14 wasn’t the best but it wasn’t too bad. Everyone was really hoping for a better story but the game was rushed by THQ. Unfortunately, 2K got all the rights to WWE games just after 2K14 was made.
So what will 2K15 bring us? It will take a lot to compete with WrestleMania and the Attitude Era…?
Any Graphical Upgrades?
WWE 2K14’s graphics were okay, but they didn’t compare too the graphics of NBA 2K14. Both published by 2K, but NBA didn’t
use YUKE as a developer. We can see the more photo-realistic graphics in NBA. YUKE will help on 2K15, but in a more back seat position. Lets hope we get the same graphics NBA got.
Will we see new animations?
The past WWE games have had their fair share of animation for every character, including finishers, signatures, and custom taunts. We also saw the ability to create our own finisher and signatures using pre-set moves. According to 2K, we are going to see five times more the amount of animations we have ever saw in a WWE game.
Explaining the reason why animation quality may not have been up to par in the last release, WWE 2K15′s executive producer Mark Little told polygon.com that short time-frames were to blame.
“Obviously we were all very happy to be able to get the license, be a part of the WWE universe, bring on a new team, and still get a game done in the midst of what was an absolute disaster […] the fact we were able to get WWE 2K14 done is a testament to everybody who was involved in that project.”
This should mean that 2K15 should have very smooth graphics, and a much smoother overall production.
Will the game be more life-like?
What we have heard from 2K is that they are promising that 2K15 will be a lot more life-like in movement and facial expressions. Full head to toe body scans were taken of the superstars, making it easier for the developers to really focus on detail. The game will be a really realistic looking game. The best thing is, new graphics and lighting improvements isn’t just a next-gen exclusive. For those with Xbox 360’s or PS3’s, you also get the new graphics. Lets hope the promise that it will be the best looking wrestling game ever made is true.
Who’s Commentating?
The past games have used commentary very loosely, often repeating phrases to the point of obvious repetition.
This year, 2K has worked alongside WWE commentators Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler. The past games have had them separated while only recording a few hours of lines. But not this time…
This time, both Jerry and Michael are in the same room, with over 35 hours of recordings finished. This makes for a much more natural sounding commentary.
When will we see this game?
The game will be released on October 28, 2014 for North America, and October 31, 2014 for Europe. For you die-hard fans out there, you better start saving up, god only knows who will be spotlighting this years limited edition game.
I’m James Kilpatrick and thanks for reading.
