A First Look at the Long Awaited Kingdom Hearts 3 Title

by GH Staff

The moment a lot of people have been waiting for is finally on its way.  There have finally been released images and videos for this heavily anticipated addition to the Kingdom Hearts series.  Even though the visual text has not yet been available in English, a lot has been gleaned simply by watching the exciting trailer.  For starters, Sora is once again the lead protagonist, along with his old pals Donald and Goofy.

It has also been confirmed that Twilight Town is going to be making a return appearance in this installation as a playable world to visit.  The clip showing Sora in Twilight Town also showed some fighting sequences, including a special “drive” that grants Sora special temporary fighting boosts for enhanced gameplay, somewhat reminiscent to the forms Sora and Roxas were able to take on in Kingdom Hearts 2, as well as the various drive forms that were present in the Birth By Sleep installation.

The clip also showed a brand new kind of fighting technique which seems to be based around surrounding opportunity.  For example, the two cases shown featured a colorful pirate ship which Sora uses to his advantage, as well as a gorgeously detailed roller coaster.  The roller coaster scene was easier to follow and showed Sora, Donald, and Goofy riding a magnificent roller coaster to defeat a boss.  This boss allows for the speculation of a possible return of the Olympic Coliseum as another potential world to visit, being that it was the Rock Titan from the Disney Hercules animated movie.  Kingdom Hearts titles in the past had featured the Ice Titan, so it’s interesting to see a different Titan being featured.  And this is just the stuff that we know we can look forward to.  Gameplay from Kingdom Hearts 3

As a Kingdom Hearts fan, I’ve played through the titles and the end of Dream Drop Distance featured a secret ending involving other cool factors, such as other keyblade wielders who are sure to be an integral part of the story of this upcoming title.  Lea, for instance (more commonly known for his Nobody named Axel from Organization XIII), as well as Kairi who can in fact wield a keyblade are sure to play an important role in this game.

And who can forget Aqua, lost with Ansem in the darkness?  There are a lot of loose ends that need to be addressed and I think fans will not be disappointed.  And since it does not appear as though the game is going to be released any time soon, perhaps there will be even more unexpected additions.  Since the developers tend to feature the Disney Princesses as “Princesses of Heart”, perhaps they will even use elements of the widely acclaimed Disney movie Frozen.  I’m definitely looking forward to whatever crossovers  and new worlds this game features, as they are always welcome and enjoyed.
