YouTube user BubblesDelFuego, has set a new world record for the speedrun of Bethesda’s open-world RPG; Fallout 3. Other runs on his channel include the likes of Bastion and the notorious Bible Adventures. The final time upon completion is just 23 minutes and 55 seconds, which completely defeats the game’s purpose – to explore a vast post-apocalyptic world, but it doesn’t matter as the aim of a speed run is to essentially reach the end by doing as little as possible to achieve the end goal.
Glitches and tricks can be seen to aid the run such as “load clipping”, which effectively lets the player get to a usually unreachable destination by going through part of the environment – this saves tons of time and is a common glitch used throughout the run and many other games whilst attempting a speed run such as Doom and Duke Nukem 3D. Bubbles also makes use of the quick save and quick load features, which enable him to skip large dialogue sequences – again, a crucial trick to take advantage of.

“Pretty solid, I won’t try to improve unless something big is found, or if the record is taken by some good competition.”
Fallout 3 is arguably one of the most glitch-filled games out there, so it comes as no surprise the game has been speed ran to death over the years whilst utilizing some of these glitches.
