From Wal-Mart and Hot Topic to first-party sellers, gaming apparel is a huge part of pop culture. Not only was it generously featured in the “Super Mario Bros. 3 advertisement in disguise” film “The Wizard“, but a few video game related shirts managed to sneak their way into “Scott Pilgrim VS The World“.
While it’s much less common to see, and generally more expensive, in-game apparel often gets recreated for fans to purchase. While consumers need to keep a sharp eye out for quality-issues and counterfeits, re-sellers like Celebs Clothing have a compiled list of replica articles of clothing. Despite it being the middle of summer, fans who are in need of a new leather jacket can purchase Alex Mercer’s jacket (Prototype), Leon Kennedy’s RE6 jacket, or even Aiden Pearce’s trench-coat (Watch_Dogs). Even though the series has always possessed a strong emphasis on style, Saints Row is finally getting its own line of in-game apparel. Shirts, and eventually a jacket and leggings are all available to order/pre-order online, courtesy of gaming apparel manufacturer Insert Coin Clothing. Available items include a “Saints Flow” t-shirt, “Professor Genki’s Super Ethical Reality Climax” shirt, and a 3rd Street Saints pull-over hoodie. Three more items are currently available for pre-order, and include a Johnny Gat polo, Professor Genki leggings, and a 3rd Street Saints academic jacket.
If Saints Row isn’t your fancy, Insert Coin offers gaming-based apparel from several franchises, including Assassin’s Creed, Dead or Alive, Hotline Miami, Jet Set Radio, The Last of Us, and Resident Evil. For those who missed out of Saints Row IV, Deep Silver is releasing SR4: National Treasure Edition later this month, which contains the base game, plus the entire catalog of DLC.
