Samsung Galaxy S5 Active

This phone has been announced and released in May 2014. This newest member of the Samsung Galaxy family brings us brand new features to toy with. The shortcomings of the previous versions have been checked in this one and the general necessities have been taken care of.

Design & Display

The display features a super AMOLED capacitive touch screen with 16M colors. The phone is a big one and easily fits in one hand. It has a 5 inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 type of protection for the display facet. The screen has a moderate 432 pixel per inch density.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

Just like all other Samsung phones, this one also has superb camera features. A 16 mega pixel camera along with 3456 x 4608 pixels range is quite a remarkable one. The high quality video recording and 2MP secondary camera are an added plus. The battery life extends as far as 480 hours, for standby with a 2800 mAh battery. With a 16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM, this amount of battery life is enough.

Sony Xperia Z2

The Xperia Z2 is also one of the newest additions in the Xperia range. It has been released only a month or two before Galaxy S5, specifically on April 2014. Both these phones share a lot in common but being from different brand names, they have their own signature technology.

Design & Display

This phone is almost the same size as Galaxy S5. It has a 5.2 inch screen with 424 pixels per inch density, coming at a close second to the Galaxy phone. Unlike S5 however, it has a shatter proof and scratch resistant glass with TRILUMINOS display and X-reality engine enhancements.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

This phone has an even better camera feature. It allows 20.7 mega pixels with 5248 x 3936 pixels capture. There is a lot more flexibility in capturing the videos with this phone, there is also video stabilization and HDR. Both the phones work on an Android KitKat OS platform, but Xperia Z1 has a 2.3 quad core processor. Also, it beats S5 with its battery efficiency, which is 3200 mAh.

Overall

Both the phones have huge similarity in their design and features; however Xperia Z1 scores more points on certain features. Firstly, Z1 has a better camera and video feature. It has a better battery life. The other features like screen resolution and size, on which the Z1 lags behind, is also by a narrow margin. Z1’s plus point however, is its 3GB RAM, which makes it a smoother one among the two.
