A PC dungeon crawler remake of the 2012 edition of the game, The Tower, was set to release in 2015. In The Tower, the player is thrown into an 11th century prison, and must escape using sounds and fighting through difficult enemies. With it being a permadeath, you must pick your fights carefully and stealth when possible. The game draws from Dark Souls and is said to be a bit of a rage game. While this game is still under development, it seems a moderator for the Early Access title may have made a mistake, and accidentally released the full edition of the game Friday on Steam.
Steam At Fault? No Way!
Our friends over at Valve had nothing to do with this, as the lead game designer, Dante Knoxx, tells us the blunder was made by a new moderator who he had given access to the game. Instead of relieving some of the community strains, the moderator made a more a bit of a mess. As you can imagine, Knoxx is quite unhappy, calling the moderator a “fool.”
Knoxx was very unnerved, claiming the early release may have “irreversibly damaged something.” In spite of his claims, the game was only released for a few hours, and not too many bothered with its Steam listing. Once it was noticed, Valve was immediately notified, and the game was taken down that afternoon. It seems there were no problems in listing The Tower as Early Access, and all is how it should be. Nothing is damaged.
Luckily it doesn’t seem to be a big deal, nor does it seem to have put a damper on the game’s development. No statements have been released saying that the release date will be delayed, so you should be able to expect this game to be out in 2015, if you’re interested in playing. And if you can’t wait til then, you can pick up an Early Access version on Steam now! Just don’t expected it to be the full version…this time…
