It seems as though Crytek is still having some troubles, as the director of Homefront has quit the studio.
As some of you may know by now, Crytek, the studio behind the Crysis series and Cryengine, has been having a lot of troubles, financial and other wise. These problems were covered by us here, here, here, and here, where Crytek came out and gave us a response. As you can see, the studio seems to be in very troubled water.
It began with rumors of Crytek’s failure to sell Cryengine 3 successfully, and the failure of Ryse: Son of Rome, the Xbox One exclusive launch title. Then, Crytek gave a response, but it was discredited fairly quickly after more reports came out about troubles with the staff that made up the studio. These troubles went from high up employees leaving the company to others not getting paid. And finally, the company is rumored to have cancelled a planned sequel to Ryse: Son of Rome.
But, most recently, the director of the newly announced Homefront game, Hasit Zala, resigned from his position at Crytek. The development manager of Crytek UK also left the studio, and a number of others are either gone or openly seeking a new job.
And on top of all of this, the head of the studio, Karl Hilton, confirmed that he would be leaving his role at Crytek, but claimed he would remain with the company.
This news comes from Kotaku and it’s sources.
