Battlefield 4: Community Test Environment Improvements
- Improved Netcode
I’m pretty sure improving the netcode within Battlefield 4 was a huge priority to DICE, whilst putting in a lot of hours into this game netcode was a huge issue for me. Users were being killed whilst behind cover, giving the user the feeling that the enemy killed you whilst you were behind a wall for example.
- Rush Tweaks
If you like rush I suggest you play it with the CTE version. There have been some improvements like increasing the balance and flow of the rush round, making it easier for attackers to attack certain MCOMs. If you played rush before on BF4 you’d know that defenders would just camp around the MCOM making it impossible to attack therefore resulting in a loss of that round. Some additional tweaks by DICE include:
- Commander has been removed by default in Rush
- Radar sweep has been reduced around attackers base
- Many per map specific changes, MCOM placement and cover passes.
- HUD Clutter improvements
HUD clutter can be very annoying for users especially playing game modes where there are 5 or more objective markers. DICE has improved this issue by allowing the user to fully customize and tweak the transparency of a lot of things, they include: objective markers, ammo/health packs, enemy names above their players, friendly names above their players etc.
- Head Flinching
Head flinching wasn’t a major issue with the vanilla version of Battlefield 4, but the improvement does help with getting headshots. When shooting at an enemy’s head, the character would flinch in an extreme manner, the head would move almost out of your line of shot whilst using a red dot sight for example, so a follow up shot would be quite difficult. This has been improved by making the enemy flinch less so that a follow up shot would be easier for the user.
Some other additional tweaks that will be improved in the near future include:
- General Weapon tweaks/balance
- Weapon Suppression tuning
- Visual recoil ADS tuning
- Vehicle tuning/balance
