Welcome to the future. How many films have we seen in which protagonists and villains alike keep their valuables locked behind a door, only accessed by looking into a tiny camera that scans their retinas? Well, on the Samsung Exynos Twitter account, they have teased what could very well be a retinal scanner for the Note or some future version in the S series.
The Tweet that came with the photo said, “Security can be improved using features unique to us. That’s what we envision. What would you use? #ExynosTomorrow“. On the right side of the photo seems to be a list of bills or costs, hinting that the scanner could be used to secure access bank accounts.
It seems we are now in a place where producers, like Samsung, are making mobile phones and tablets secure enough for online banking, and the technology of cameras, both size and quality, are allowing us to materialize ideas which had previously, as stated before, been kept in Hollywood. This will be an appealing feature that, depending on how much detail the scanner can pick up, should be more secure than the standard user name and password.
