After the official Steam OS release yesterday, information about already received Steam Machines Beta Boxes spread out. Valve’s prototype will reach 300 lucky customers, who will be the first that are able to experience the mighty power of the Steam Machines.
The Steam Machines Beta Mission was available up to 25th of October. It was a basic registration process and Valve has chosen over 270 people at random to be beta testers. The other 30 were Steam users that have already brought a lot to the Steam universe via previous Beta testing missions or by just being helpful to the community.
Beta Testers have already started uploading unboxing videos. From one, uploaded by Corey Nelson we can see that the Prototype of the Steam Machine comes in a big wooden box. The Beta controller is rather different than the one we would get when the consoles are officially released; however, that is not a huge problem.
