It’s that time of year again, where gamers around the world are either scurrying to get to San Diego or sobbing at home wishing they had the means to. That’s right, it’s almost time for San Diego Comic-Con 2014! The original gamer convention is just around the corner, which means the industry’s biggest names are prepping their star players and sending them out onto the field to rally hype and earn some bragging rights in the process.
Ubisoft has just released their 2014 Comic-Con lineup and it’s looking pretty epic…
One of the most notable announcements this year was the reveal of Far Cry 4. The sequel to 2012’s smash hit, Far Cry 4 is taking things up a notch with a new setting in the mountains of Tibet. It’s also got new weapons, new enemies….elephants… Need I say more? While fans won’t be able to get any hands on time with the game at this year’s con, Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4 panel taking place July 24 at 3:15pm in room 6DE will ‘go behind the scenes to learn about what went into building Far Cry 4’s open-world Kyrat for the next-generation’.
Another one of Ubisofts notable upcoming releases is The Crew; an innovative online driving game that’s looking to take the world of online multiplayer and turn it on it’s head. Fans of the racing genre or just sexy cars in general are in luck, as Ubisoft will have a demo of The Crew available to play at their booth (#135). Impressed with the demo you just laid hands on? Pre-order the game at the booth and receive a free t-shirt (while supplies last).
Just Dance 2015 may not be at the top of my personal list but there’s no arguing the massive success the franchise has held with gamers of all ages. Just Dance 2015 will be playable in the Nintendo Gaming Lounge at the San Diego Marriott Marina a 333 W Harbor Drive during comic-con. Fans feeling so bold as to show off their dance moves will be able to choose from three hit tracks: ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams, ‘Summer’ by Calvin Harris, and ‘Burn’ by Ellie Goulding.
Last but certainly not least is the inclusion of Assassin’s Creed Unity. Arguably one of the most hyped titles of 2014, Assassin’s Creed Unity will drop players smack dab int he middle of the French Revolution. For Comic-Con 2014, Ubisoft is kicking it up a notch with what they’re calling the ‘Assassin’s Creed Experience’. This includes a massive parkour obstacle course located on the Martin Luther King Jr Promenade. Attendees with be able to try various free running techniques such as rolling and vaulting, in pursuit of the final challenge awaiting them at the end: a 25-foot ‘leap of faith’. I’m hoping that’s as exciting as we’re all imagining it to be. Conquer the course and receive a free t-shirt. Decide to pre-order then and there and receive yet another t-shirt, this one with a fancy guillotine. Of course, a demo of Assassin’s Creed Unity will be available to play on site.
Probably not walking away from that one…Ubisoft is also partnering with Shick Hydro to introduce the Shick Hydro Challenge, where attendees can get a shave from professional barbers on site and walk away with the closest shave they’ll ever have, as well as tons of French Revolution-inspired swag.
