The Crews closed beta starts today but what is just how open is it.
Today is the start of the week-long closed beta for The Crew. With The Crew hyping itself up as an open world MMO racer, it’s understandable that players will be curious to just what they can do in this closed beta so today Ubisoft UK released a walk through video on Youtube describing just what players will be able to do in The Crews Closed Beta.
Will you race every chance you get or will you explore the country?When you first log into The Crew you will start in Detroit for a quick prologue, after which players will be invited to take part in a variety of events in Detroit. Over course you don’t have to do so because throughout the Beta the entire game world will be open to you.
Over course with this being a Closed Beta, events will be limited to just two out of the five regions that The Crew has split the country into. For the Beta players will be able to do all of the activities in the Midwest area as well as some events in the East Coast. You will be able to do all events either by yourself or with friends.
The activities are split into different groups. The Missions contain the game’s story mode and in the Closed Beta you will get an early introduction to some of the games characters as well as a taste of the game’s story missions.
Skill challenges meanwhile are where the online leaderboard will be as everyone will be putting their skills and experience earned cars (more in a sec) to the test in a variety of challenges. The game also includes PVP races for those of you who want to only race other players and the world is also littered with famous US landmarks.
As you’d expect from a racing game with MMO elements, everything you do can earn you experience, car parts and cash for buying everything. Every region has its own car dealer and their own selection of cars. You’ll be able to upgrade every car in the game through five unique specs at the Car Tuner and each tuner deals in a different spec. For the Closed Beta players will be limited to only having the New York and Detroit. This means that you can only tune your car for Dirt and Street use but this for the purpose of exploring the game world, this should be all you need.
The final area you can visit will be your own personal headquarters where you will be able to install the upgrades you earned in races. Each car can be upgraded with new parts in 20 separate areas though it should be mentioned that out of the 20, 9 are to make your car as personal as you can.
Your cars aren’t the only thing you can upgrade though since you can also upgrade yourself and other team members through perks you gain as you level up. Also if you look at the trailer when there talking about the perks we briefly see the picture of two characters. The two characters are a FBI agent called Zoe and a businessman called Omar. Each member will have there own unique perks which can either increase your driving skills or make things a little more convenient.
The Crews Closed Beta will run all this week but for everyone playing please remember that this is a Beta, there may be changes made afterwards in replying to players comments.
