Fans of this classic series are certainly ready for the release of the revamped Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, so it’s no surprise to see Pokemon fans, new and old, in an uproar over the new and improved versions of the beloved Ruby and Sapphire generation. But sometimes things, including our own nostalgia, can skew the way we see or think of a game. If it’s been a few years since you’ve seen Ruby and Sapphire, it may shock you to see the graphics now, especially when compared side-by-side to the new Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire – Graphics Compared

A Reddit user, YouDontKnowThisUser, has put together side-by-side comparisons of the Game Boy Advance and the new, upcoming 3DS versions, soon to be released. The results are rather, well, stunning. I can certainly say I remember these two games looking great, but after a span of 12 years, even I have to admit the revamped 3DS versions give a whole new level to these nostalgic games.

In addition to the revamped graphics, there will be added game play. Of course, you can expect the mega evolutions to be added, in addition to more being put in. Not only will these evolutions be something to look forward to, but the new Ancient Devolution will allow for Groudon and Kyogre to be devolved into a primal or prehistoric version, since there is no evolution prior to these ancient Pokemon.

November 21st is the announced release date for the two revamped games. I know I certainly can’t wait for this, especially seeing all of the improvements and additions to the game. It will be great to wander the Hoenn region once more and seeing it in a different way than the original gen III games. Until their release, only one pressing matter looms over the players as they await these favorites, Ruby or Sapphire?
