Wii U has made some major changes on the console interface recently. Considering the Wii U is one of the most interactive systems next to the Kinect, it’s nice to see that Nintendo is utilizing it’s technological capabilities.
They’re going to be including a few new changes to the latest update, including Wii U to Wii U system transfers, which will allow players to transfer save data, Mii’s, user settings, etc. Since the cloud and Wi-Fi are being readily used in next-gen gaming, it’s nice to know that you can trade over your profile and start using your own Mii instead of trying to build a Mii for everyone and wasting 20 minutes to make sure it looks exactly right. This is also not the case, since Wii U system transfers will only take all of the data or none of it. The main purpose of this is to reformat the Wii U, or bring content from an older, potentially broken Wii U to a brand new Wii U. Essentially, Nintendo has allowed you to back up their system with another new system. The only reason this would be applicable would be to transfer data from a standard issue Wii U to a special edition Wii U that’s been newly purchased.
Also included in this update are being able to navigate the Nintendo eShop with more than just the gamepad. You’ll now be able to use the Wii Pro Controller, Wii Remote (Plus), and Classic Controller (Pro). This will allow more ways to browse the menu and not have to use your gamepad all the time. Although it may not seem like a big jump, in the eyes of Nintendo fans, it really will make a difference in purchases in the future.
