When DMC Devil May Cry was first announced I was excited; I was under the impression that they were continuing the series. That excitement turned to disappointment however when I watched the release trailer. Who was this scrawny kid who shared Dante’s name and stole all of his weapons? Why was his hair black? Why was he smoking!? (The original Dante hated cigarettes).
Dante has a new lookSo what was a fan girl to do? Besides writing Capcom, which I did, to complain, I was stuck. So I waited and avoided playing this new remake at all cost. But then we got gamefly, and this led to a curiosity I couldn’t hold back. So I played it and I’m shocked to admit that I absolutely loved it. Let me give you a couple reasons why.
Gameplay
One of the reasons for Devil May Cry’s success as a series comes from the gameplay and weapon selection. The use of multiple weapons allowed for easy ways to build combos while having fun doing it. DMC kept that vast selection of weapons fans of the series are familiar with while adding some new ones.
Angel and demon weapons are introduced giving gameplay more versatility. Some enemies can only be hurt by angel weapons and vice versa.

While I will always love the quirkiness of the original series, DMC’s story was much more put together. It is a remake of the original and uses the same names and basic storyline as well as throwing its own twists and turns in. The whole game flowed very well and didn’t leave me with unanswered questions.
Characters
Last is character development. Despite the fact that Dante has a new look, they’ve kept his personality the same; an arrogant womanizer who says a lot of cheesy one liners.
Vergil got a slight make over as well, though his isn’t as drastic. He’s a genius hacker who rarely fights but still knows his way around his sword.
Vergil’s been updatedA new female character named Kat is introduced as well. For once she isn’t busty nor a love interest; I was very happy about both these things.
The newest femaleIn the end DMC Devil May Cry was a good remake with a slightly original story and good character development. If you’ve also been putting this game off I urge you to give it a try. It may surprise you.
