After being exposed to various medias discussing the coming apocalypse (especially 2012) with different variations, our current generation is well-supplied with information in handling any survival-base situations before our world will perish or mankind will cease to exist. Taking advantage of this well-known survival theme, Black Cloud Studios, an independent gaming studio, has staged its science fiction project 132 years after a thermonuclear crisis occurred and almost annihilated all of humanity. With Earth covered in wide-spread wastelands at almost every horizon, this devastating phenomenon known as the “Reset” caused these last survivors to either live in the underground metropolis under the United Governments’ jurisdiction or scrape through depleting supplies as a New Confederacy member.

While each friction has its resource strengths and weaknesses, these powerful adversaries must also face another dangerous threat: the unpredictable humans, these cannibals and scavengers bearing weapons roam as small tribes in the dusty wilderness. When browsing this open world inside After Reset, players must navigate through two territories marked into color sections. The yellow zone, being affiliated as moderately severe, represent areas holding uncontaminated resources that maybe guarded by the anarchists who constantly occupy these desert places. On the other hand, the red zone houses mutated specimens and other unworldly objects that were forged by the nuclear chemical reaction years ago.

Before venturing through these unknown settings, PC users will find their main characters waking up inside a laboratory where they begin their nonlinear journey and personal story. Meaning, this role-playing game enables the audience to actually control his or her own fate by answering dialogue questions or responding to certain events, but these personal decisions will still trigger one outcome out of countless endings. Yet, this final scene also depends on the companions’ stories.

Additionally, this post-apocalypse still gravitates on being slightly realistic, which means no one can roam throughout the desert for several days without water, adding more emphasis in locating food and ammunition supplies while freely exploring the sandy landscapes, bunkers, etc. Readers who are sensing a heavily inspired Fallout fan should also know that this close replica contains original music scores. Despite reaching this far in the development process, Black Cloud Studios still has more components to incorporate from their future plans: a professional cinematic opening, the completion of the prologue chapter, etc.

However, building this large and extensive package requires an enormous sum, which this hopeful company seeks from interested donors or sponsors who want to contribute to their campaign for $35,000 at KickStarter. By acquiring the sufficient funds, they hope to release the full prologue chapter and be available for PC, MAC and Linux by this October. While having the support from 15,000 Facebook fans and a Greenlit on STEAM in five days may not be enough to sustain this workload, any donation will be truly appreciated immensely. If this lengthy article with screenshots doesn’t persuade anyone, then maybe the open access to the Pre-Alpha build download might.

Regardless, this energetic but twisted approach–by placing the post-traumatic victims to survive the hostile desert/radioactive terrains with savages–couldn’t be more irresistible.
