Spoiler Alert The Last of Us secret ending doesn’t involve death

It’s not everyday fans get to see the actors of their favourite characters acting out scenes.  However  fans who attended TLOU One Night Live at Los Angeles not only got to see this but got the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson act out a The Last of Us secret ending that was cut from the finished game.

Thankfully they didn't have to act out moments like these.

Thankfully they didn’t have to act out moments like these.

Unfortunately you’re not going to find footage of it however since the game’s director Neil Druckmann requested that nobody in the audience record the performance since it will never be filmed or recorded again. Due to this we only knows what happened because of this tread on NeoGAF. If you’ve never played The Last of Us and want to avoid spoilers then beware because there are spoilers ahead.

The scene apparently takes place 4 years after the ending of the game though it does vary a bit so lets leave it at after the events of the game. Joel and Ellie are at Tommy dam and Joel is talking about Tommy wanting to get Joel married to some girl called Esther. According to the reports Ellie is acting pretty distant after the events of the game and Joel lies when Joel announces that he has a present for her.

The present turns out to be a guitar and Joel proceeds to play Ellie a special song which Tory Baker sang on stage in Joel voice. He then shares a joke he told Ester and they laugh. The joke if your curious was “What’s the bad thing about eating a clock? It’s time-consuming”. Joel gives her the guitar and promises to teach her how to play before leaving the room. The scene then ends with Ellie striking a cord on the guitar.

Some people are claiming that Neil said that the scene was meant as a goodbye for Joel and Ellie which means that if that’s the case, there may never be a sequel or at the very least they won’t be the main character in it.

According to NeoGAF this scene will never be released so for those at TLOU One Night Live at Los Angeles got to see The Last of Us secret ending acted out, you really did get to see Joel and Ellie for the last time. The rest of us will just have to hope someone did record it.
