Recently, an anonymous Gamestop manager has revealed to My Nintendo News the release date of Super Smash Bros for Wii U.
According to this manager, Super Smash Bros for Wii U will release on November 21st. Along with this information, the employee claimed that each copy of Super Smash Bros for Wii U will also be bundled with a free amiibo figure.
For those unfamiliar with amiibo, it’s a new idea that Nintendo presented at this year’s E3. Much like the figures you can buy for “Skylanders: Swap Force,” you can purchase figures of Mario, Kirby, and Link, as well as many more to come in the future. With these, you can use them for many different games, like Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Right now, the uses for most games are unknown, but, for Smash, we know that amiibos will be able to enter your game as a CPU and level up as you use it more.
So far, this rumor seems very plausible. Nintendo has already said Super Smash Bros for Wii U will come out Holiday 2014, and seeing as this date it just ahead of Black Friday in the US, the leaked release date is certainly in the Holiday season. It would also make sense for Super Smash Bros to come bundle with an amiibo figure, because it would allow for gamers to see exactly what amiibo is and does, potentially selling more figures.
But, this could also be false. The source remained completely anonymous, and left no verification of who they are. On top of this, Super Smash Bros for 3DS had a release of Summer 2014 at first, and the release date of that is October 3rd, which is not summer.
