S5 mini features an Android OS while Lumia 635 runs on Windows OS platform. Therefore there is obviously some functional difference between these phones. But Lumia 635 falls within a smaller price group. So does it have lesser features?

This phone has a 120 g light weight body enabled with features like PayPal certified fingerprint sensor, water resistance up to 30 minutes in 1 meter and IP67 certified water and dust resistance. Apart from that this phone has a Super AMOLED touch screen which makes the display bright enough for accommodating 326ppi resolution. The screen on the other hand is 4.5 inches. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Specifications, Camera & Battery
The phone sports a 1.5 GB RAM to support its 1.4 GHz Quad core processor. It is based on Android OS v4.4.2 KitKat. For the camera usage, S5 mini has provided 8 mega pixels on the front along with high resolution video recording and 2.1 mega pixels in the front, which also has 1080p video recording. It is powered by a 2100 mAh Li-Ion battery.
Nokia Lumia 635
This is the latest addition to the Lumia family which was released in June 2014. With almost half the price as that of S5 mini we can surely call this a value phone.
Design & Display
This phone does not beat S5 mini’s Super AMOLED touch screen. It has an IPS LCD capacitive touch screen. The clear black display however makes the 16 M colors appear bright. The phone is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Specifications, Camera & Battery
It has only a 512 MB RAM on a Quad core processor which is a huge drawback. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset allows good speed though. For imaging, there is 5 mega pixels primary camera and 720p video recording. But there is no secondary camera. As already mentioned this phone is based on a Windows 8.1 OS. It has a low battery capacity for a Windows phone with only 1830 mAh battery.
Overall
It appears as if S5 mini is a better phone but the phone is almost twice the price as that of Lumia 635. Therefore if you have no budget constraints go for S5 mini, otherwise Lumia 635 is the next best.
