Motorola Moto E

Motorola has recently released a very sturdy and cheap smartphone named Moto E that is clearly a good example of innovation. A handsome set of features at such a low cost is very rare.

Visual Details

The display is a 4.3 inch 540×960 resolution screen that has a decent pixel density of ~256 ppi which, considering the price of the phone is great. The latest Gorilla Glass 3 covers the whole front and the back is removable and made of matt plastic which gives it a decent design character.

Technical Specifications

Run by a Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and a RAM capacity of 1GB, it certainly gives a nice performance result. The phone memory is 4 gigabytes which may be less but there is an added support for external memory up to 32 gigabytes, giving you the freedom that you may think you didn’t have in terms of memory. KitKat 4.4.2 is the default OS version which can be updated to 4.4.3.

Multimedia

The camera is 5 MP and has very little features, namely panorama and HDR. Lack of autofocus is also instantly noticeable. But given the price, it is just what one would expect anyway.

Accessories

All you get is a data cable. That’s right, no charger or headset!

Battery

The sturdy 1980mAh battery unit will last you two and a half days worth of typical usage.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Value Edition

Samsung has created a sister phone to the Galaxy S4 and it’s called the Galaxy S4 Value Edition. Pretty much the same phone, the most noticeable difference is the array of colors it is available in. That includes Brown, Black, Blue, Pink, Purple, White and Red. The phone was released in May 2014.

Visual Details

As said earlier, it is just like the actual S4 and that includes the body too. A 5 inch touchscreen with display resolution and pixel density at 1080×1920 and ~441 ppi gives the same crisp and beautiful result. The quality of build is also great and it’s really fun to handle.

Technical Specifications

A 1.9 GHz beastly processing unit with 2GB of RAM means the ability to deliver a performance standard that’s pretty much expected already. 32GB internal memory and external card support make it a great mobile to have. Kitkat 4.4.2 as default OS version is what you get right out of the box.

Multimedia

The 13 MP powered by CMOS image sensor gives a beautiful image quality, be it when taking photos or recording full HD 1080p video. HDR, face detection and panorama are some of the features available in this capable shooter.

Accessories

No real data has yet been received about this but it is expected to have the same accessories package as the normal S4.

Battery

The 2600mAh battery is big and capable enough to give at least 2-3 days of typical smartphone usage.

Verdict

Analyzing the specs of both phones makes it very clear that if money isn’t an issue, the Galaxy S4 Value Edition is the obvious choice.
