The next-gen consoles are already out, but their line-ups don’t seem to impress the audience. However, titles in development, such as Get Even and Project Cars are set to change the way we see games as a whole.
Set to define a “new standard” for racing games, the team behind Project Cars promises to deliver ‘new benchmarks of graphical fidelity and technical power’ in the next gen console version of the game.
Project cars will be released for the Xbox One, PS4, WiiU the PC and SteamOS in Fall, 2014. Developers also mentioned that due the certain properties of Valve’s new operating system, the SteamOS version of the game will include ‘specific multiplayer and social features’ that are not available on the other versions.
Slightly Mad Studios, the team behind Project Cars, has already worked on some great racing game titles including Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends, Need for Speed Shift and Shift 2 Unleashed.
In Project Cars, the player would be able to experience a wide variety of racing options including F1, karting and GT races. With over 40 unique racing locations, dynamic time of day and weather system and co-op and competitive online play, Project Cars does not stand out that much as a next-gen racing game. However, the in-game graphics level they’ve managed to achieve is truly astonishing.
The head of Slightly Mad Studios, Ian Bell also mentioned that Project Cars is possible because of the ‘powerful new platforms’ available. He added that the next-gen consoles allowed them ‘to not compromise on the quality’ of Project Cars and their vision of the game.
The newly released in-game screenshots of the game just go to show how Project Cars can truly become a next-gen title that defines the racing games of the future.
Do you believe that the game looks realistic enough and could Project Cars actually make a difference in the racing game genre?
