Guild Wars 2 – Origins of Madness update will bring new world bosses

by GH Staff

ArenaNet has recently revealed that the major update coming to Guild Wars 2, Origins of Madness, will be arriving on the 21st of January and will advance the story-thread towards its inevitable end. And frankly, I’m kinda glad the huge “Scarlet Briar, the menacing arch-villain” line is drawing to a close. Not that the story was necessarily bad, but it’s just hard to take Scarlet Briar seriously, when there are so many bosses in Guild Wars 2 that pose so much more of a threat. It just somehow didn’t click (at least not for me), and I couldn’t consider Scarlet the big bad wolf of Guild Wars 2 when you get to battle it out with the likes of Tequatl.

In any case, Scarlet will be up to no good (well, doh!), and this is where things are getting interesting:

“Scarlet will unleash a brand-new mechanical monstrosity on the living world of Tyria: the Twisted Marionette! A gigantic robotic weapon of mass destruction, the Twisted Marionette can only be stopped by a concerted effort on the part of players. That’s not the only threat awaiting players, as the teaser video reveals. Scarlet’s machinations have unearthed something ancient and angry in Bloodtide Coast. The Great Jungle Wurm is a huge multi-headed creature so powerful that only an army of players can challenge it.”

Two new world bosses to wipe on? That’s more like it! Scarlet Shmarlet, bring on the Marionette! And that Wurm is nothing to joke about either. Based on the teaser trailer, I can already foresee massive AOE damage and multiple wipes! Which is exactly what I’d want in Guild Wars 2. Of course, the update will most likely bring other content as well, but nothing concrete has been announced just yet. Patch notes are expected to appear any day now, so keep your eyes on the Guild Wars 2 page and get ready to face some new challenges!
