After two years of not hearing anything from Sega and not seeing any news at Pax Prime 2014, the developer and publisher has made Western audiences doubt that massive multiplayer online game called Phantasy Star Online 2 is not coming to North America or Europe. Meanwhile, an August report from Asiasoft, the publisher for Southeast Asia servers, also provided some unfortunate news as online revenue was decreasing over the years. With little hope, the whole project doesn’t seem to be happening, until a little message changes everything.
After almost three years of silence, Sega has finally opened up to the public and replied to a twitter question about this MMO game on September 3, 2014.
@Japan_Game_Love PSO2 is still delayed. SEGA is currently working on bringing PSO2 to the West and will update as soon as we know more.
— SEGA (@SEGA) September 3, 2014
Although the brief message restores hope for wishful fans, one wonders why haven’t they just mentioned the delayed as an announcement instead of answering one tweet? Additionally, what could have caused this huge delay at the beginning. Whatever that reason could be, one wonders how much longer must fans wait to hear more content about the English servers instead of patch or update releases in Japan or other countries.
