Drift – When Hearthstone grows wheels

by GH Staff

Hearthstone has proven that card games can be extremely popular and fun if done right, and what better platform to play these types of games from than your mobile device?  Drift is a small and ambitious project being developed for Facebook and mobile platforms, and is currently undergoing a small kickstarter fund-raising. Now, Drift aims to please the petrol-junkie crowd by providing a competitive and interactive card-game based on…cars, of course.

Players of Drift will have to strategically set up their decks and outplay opponents with a 30-card deck, out of which 7 cards are always in hand at one given time. Everything is turn-based, as you’d expect. Your cards and the cards of your opponents will influence the outcome of a race that you can see on the main screen. Basically, you need to win the race, and your cards will either give you an edge or slow your opponent down. The bigger the margin of your victory, the higher the rewards.

Drift developers OGN are already far in terms of development, and the artwork of the game looks great. Tom Starkie, co-founder of OGN gave us some insight on what to expect in the finished product, stating that they “plan on adding PvP, card trading and a map builder”. A wide variety of cars will be available, as well as multiple boosts to help you out during a race. Collecting better and better cards and setting up the perfect deck, together with strategic thinking and planning will be crucial in obtaining victory.

Winning races in Drift will earn players some coins, coins that can later be spent in the garage on new cards, cars and even parts from a map, allowing you to build your own maps and race against your friends on them. Sounds good? Definitely does! We’re hoping the guys at OGN can pull off card-balancing well enough to provide a competitive scene in Drift. If this sounds like something you’d love to play during your subway rides or boring office hours, make sure you give the Drift devs a helping hand on their kickstarter page.
