According to retailer GAME, Bungie’s highly anticipated open-world first-person shooter title, Destiny, has become the most pre-ordered new IP in the company’s history.
With Destiny preparing for launch worldwide on September 9th, GAME has confirmed that more than 300 of its stores will be opened at midnight across the United Kingdom for this year’s eagerly awaited title.
“We look forward to welcoming a huge population of fans into our stores at midnight,” says GAME. “September 9th 2014 will be a pivotal moment for gamers all over the world, and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of delivering what is a ground-breaking gaming experience.”
Earlier this week, Bungie explained that people who purchase Destiny on last-generation consoles will be able to upgrade to the current-generation versions for free. Further details on how this features works and how long it will last for can be found here.
“The Traveler,” a large white orb that features on the cover art of Destiny and plays a pivotal role in the story, had a replica version launched by publisher Activision more than 100,000ft above the Earth a few days ago, which was to celebrate the upcoming release of Destiny. Destiny will be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
