Apple Could Enter Mobile-Payment Market Soon

by GH Staff

Tech giant Apple has plans in place to make it a significant player in the mobile-payment market according to the Wall Street Journal. If this comes to fruition, iOS users could soon be paying for their groceries through their mobile devices like iPhones and iPads. These transactions would charge the payment to the connected iTunes account.

Today, millions of Apple’s customers are using their iTunes account to buy digital content from games to books. This collection of credit card details connected to iTunes is what the company is trying to leverage as they make this move.

Apple is reportedly on the lookout for companies in the tech industry it can work with on this venture. Makes sense for them especially because they have already dropped plans for the same venture some time ago. The Cupertino, California based corporation is looking to take on the big names of the mobile payment world like PayPal and Google to name a couple. Would PayPal even still be available on iTunes in the future?

If you are an iOS user, would it make more sense to you to pay for your purchases using your Apple ID? Share your two cents (charged to your iTunes account) in the comments section below.
