With Windows 8, Microsoft tried something new but users have their own idea. They want something new but not that new. For instance, the modern apps feature, although half-baked, is a move in the right direction since touchscreen devices are becoming more popular. But plenty of users still haven’t made the change from mouse-and-keyboard to touch-enabled devices.
For those stuck with the mouse to navigate, using the modern apps feature is a hassle. When you right-click on something for instance, the menu appears at the bottom of the screen. While not a big problem, this has been a major source of frustration for many users. For the update scheduled for release on March 11 (according to rumors), Microsoft will make the right-click feature on the modern apps act like it does on the desktop.
Another leaked feature of the 8.1 Update is the ability to pin modern apps shortcut to the taskbar. For users who spend most of their time on the desktop but still need to launch the modern apps screen from time to time, this is a cool compromise.
