Capcom unleashes a new Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate trailer at TGS as it nears its release in Japan
Today at TGS Capcom unleashed a brand new Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate trailer showing off more returning monsters that will be in the game, as well as the series long running arena. This trailer has been released as the game nears its launch in Japan.
Fans who have been in the series since Monster Hunter 1 will recognise a lot of the monsters in the trailer, such as the Bird Wyverns Yian Kut-Ku and the Gypceros, as well as the cover star from Monster Hunter 2 and firm fan favourite, the Tigrex.

Sure the new Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate trailer focuses on old monsters but there’s still plenty of new faces.
There are too many old favourites returning to name here but don’t expect their old patterns to fully return either, because their all getting new moves. For example the Gypceros can now arc its poison so it rains over your head, and the Yian Kut-Ku can now dig into the ground and spit oversized beetles at you.
Also, if the black Rathlos in the trailer is anything to go by, the old guard will be just as vulnerable to the Gore Magala virus as the new generation. This means that again, don’t depend on past knowledge to get you through these fights.
Finally the trailer gives us a glimpse of what looks like Monster Hunter 4s arena. Judging by what’s shown in the trailer, this time the arena has been built with multiplayer in mind, since the walls are armed with ballstia’s, cannons and even the series Dragonator weapon, which seems a little overkill.
I say that it seems to be designed around multiplayer because someone’s going to need to keep the monsters busy, or else they’ll fly up and meet the person on the ballastia personally. On the plus side the walls will leaned themselves to jumping attacks nicely.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be released in Japan on October 11th exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS, and is due out in the West in early 2015.
