Undoubted the Samsung Galaxy S5 is one of the hottest tech gadgets right now, this is making competition for apple and other phone companies to develop better and more user friendly phones. Although is Apple lacking behind with there delayed technologies? That’s of course until Apple launches the highly anticipated iPhone 6, a phone we’re hearing more and more about. Will the iPhone 6 manage to steal the spotlight from the Galaxy S5?
First of all, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is launching fairly soon, more specifically on the 11th of April 2014 (this can change depending to the area you reside in). On the other hand, the iPhone 6 will most likely be revealed later this year, and will be launching in the fall-winter period, so there’s more waiting to be done for Apple’s next flagship phone. When it comes to price, the official estimates for the iPhone 6 are unknown as of yet. For the Samsung Galaxy S5 however, we can expect a price of around £540 (around $900), carrier-free, depending on the vendor. This is considerably less than what the Samsung Galaxy S4 launched with, and it’s likely to be less than the price-tag the iPhone 6 will tag along with too. In terms of availability and price, it seems the S5 is the winner of the Samsung Galaxy S5 vs iPhone 6 war. If you don’t want to wait until the end of the year for a top-notch phone to upgrade to, this really is a no-brainer.
In terms of specs, the two phones are likely to be similar in what they offer. There’s little concrete information about the iPhone 6 specs at this time, and we don’t want to assume things based on rumors and speculation. We do know what the Samsung Galaxy S5 brings to the table though: it comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen, with a 1,080 x 1,920 pixel resolution, fueled by a 2.5-GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor and Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset. It also comes in 16 and 32 GB internal memory variants, which can be expanded by up to 128 GB using a microSD card. The Samsung Galaxy S5 also comes with a 2800mAh battery, which should be enough even for its high-end hardware. According to Samsung, the Galaxy S5 can take up to 21 hours of talk-time. Additionally, Samsung also introduces some nifty features with the Samsung Galaxy S5, such as a heart-beat sensor. We’re sure Apple’s iPhone 6 will also bring innovations of its own and hardware to compete, but it’s still far away, and the technical capabilities of the Galaxy S5 cannot be denied.
Lastly, if the operating system is a factor for you (at least when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S5 vs iPhone 6 duel), you should know that Samsung’s flagship phone of the year comes with the new Android KitKat OS pre-installed, so you’re getting the best the industry has to offer in terms of software. At this point, all things point in favor of the Samsung Galaxy S5. It might face some competition from Sony’s Xperia Z2, but given the price and specs of the S5, we’re sure it will do great in terms of sales. Unless you’re a die-hard Apple fan and can afford to wait another half of a year or so for the iPhone 6, go for the Samsung Galaxy S5 – it’s really a safe bet and a solid choice.
