QuakeCon is moved forward this year

by GH Staff

The 19th annual QuakeCon has just been announced. Older gamers may remember the traditional event that was based around Id Software games. What will you be seeing at QuakeCon? Well, Quake obviously. No, we’re kidding, the event is far more than that. QuakeCon is one great big LAN party that has various events, from game announcements and competitions, to conferences, panel discussions, loads of gaming and parties of course.

This year’s QuakeCon has been moved forward a bit. Traditionally taking place in August, QuakeCon was moved to mid-July this year. Admissions are free of course, and this is one of the best places to go on a killing spree in an old-fashioned LAN party. Quake and Doom fans will be present, and so will Bethesda. That’s right, in recent years, Bethesda has been present at QuakeCon, and this year will be no exception. We know that Bethesda is currently working on the Elder Scrolls Online, The Evil Within and of course Wolfenstein, but perhaps they will delight us with some highly anticipated announcements too? It’s too early to start speculation, but if there’s any chance of Fallout 4 happening, QuakeCon might be the place they’ll announce it.

QuakeCon will take place in Dallas, Texas, between the 17th of July and the 20th of July. That’s an extended Thursday-Sunday weekend. Reservations for nearby accommodations are already available, with the Anatole being the prime hotel hosting. A special $159 nightly rate has been established for the event, so if you’re planning on attending, hurry up and save yourself a room. For more information, visit the official website of QuakeCon.
