We’ve been seeing quite a few games lately that take us back to the good ol’ days of FPS’s. Games like Heavy Bullets or Quake Live which emphasize fast movement and precision aiming. Wrack now aims to join this genre.
Wrack is all about action – spectacular action! The addictive kill chain system encourages you to mow down as many enemies in a short period of time as possible. Hell, you can even gib corpses to keep your chain going! Mayhem has never been this much fun. No hiding – keep your chain going by getting out there and kicking some alien ass!
Wrack is a single-player arcade style shooter in which killing enemies grants combos and chain finishers. The game has a lovely cel-shaded aesthetic to it which reminds me a lot of Borderlands (not that that’s a bad thing). The game also features Mega Man style bosses and minibosses, which were inspired by games like Castlevania and (obviously) Mega Man. The game is complete with score and time attack modes and enables you to compete against friends, yourself and the world.
The game tells us that “the action never has to end” and promises endless content, and this is due to the Steam Workshop, allowing players to create and share their own levels for others.
It’s a shame this game doesn’t have multiplayer, just looking at the gameplay, a multiplayer mode would fit in perfectly. Along with the fact that players can create their own maps, it would have been nice to see some awesome maps played online with mates. Maybe at a later date they plan on adding online to the game.
What do you guys think of the game? Personally, with Quake Live around, I think it’s going to be a while before any game tops it, although Wrack does look like a lot of fun, I think there are better options out there.
