Sony had a good year in 2013 when they released the Xperia Z1 model; they didn’t expect much, but the phone has been flying off the shelves. ASUS has not been too far behind as they have recently released their phablet, a giant display that comes with awesome features.
So let’s see which one comes out on top.
Sizes, Designs, and Displays
The Xperia Z1 has a great angular design that is can be uncomfortable in your hand as it has shattered proof glass. However, the design of the game is still elegant. The display is a TFT, with 5 inch measures and 1080 x 1920 resolution and 441 ppi. The X-Reality Engine technology provides excellent viewing experience developed by Sony. It also weighs only 170 grams and has 144 x 74 x 8.5 mm measurements, and the phone is protected against dust and water due to Sony’s IP58 certification.
The good-looking, plastic body of ZeneFone 6 provides a display of 6 inches, and a metallic stripe. The display is also Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating that protects the IPS screen. With 720 x 1280 resolution and 245 ppi pixels, it weighs less than the Z1 at 196 grams, and 166.9 x 84.3 x 9.9 mm dimensions.
OS and Hardware
In terms of power, the ASUS phablet doesn’t measure up to the Xperia Z1 as it powered by Krait 400 with speeds at 2.2 GHz. The ZenFone 6, on the other hand, has a dual-core processor with speeds of 2 GHz, comes with Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB of Ram, which is supported by a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset. The ZenFone 6 is powered by PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU, supported by an Intel Atom Z2580 chipset and 2GB of RAM.
Zenfone 6 provides three versions of internal memory capacity of 32 GB, 16 GB, and 8 GB, with the options to expand. While the Xperia Z1 has a memory capacity of 16 GB that is expanded up to 64GB.
Each are Androids, where Z1 runs on v4.2 (Jelly Bean), and v4.4.4 (KitKat) upgrade, while the ZenFone 6 has v.4.3 (Jelly Bean), and upgrade at v 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS.
Cameras
The ZenFone 6 has a 2MP front camera, with a secondary camera at 13 MP, with LED flash, Geo-tagging, autofocus, touch focus, and panorama views. The Xperia Z1 camera provides a 20.7 MP resolution for their back camera, which also comes with ½.3” sensor size, HDR, autofocus, and LED flash, and the secondary is 2MP.
Batteries
The Z1 has a 3000mAH battery that is non-removable, as such is the Zenfone 6 with a 3300mAH battery that has 28 hours of talk time on 3G, and Z1 has 3G talking time of 15 hours. Both impressive in their battery life compared to other phones in the market.
Prices
The cheaper phone is the ZenFone 6 has a price tag of $288 for 16 GB while the Xperia Z1 has a $420 price tag. Overall the Z1 can be worth the purchase.
