Rice peasants? In this era! Yes, players will dominate lands and control rice peasants who must dutifully tend and cultivate fields to collect supplies in Battle Realm Legends. These non-playable characters are actually part of a role-playing game component that help generate resources for the player’s clans. After all, this fusion of strategic card battle and role-playing game must mentally challenge these players and instigate them to start battles (somewhere), so why not start with claiming assets (or giving them an incentive to fight). To truly understand this map system, folks can watch this short video that basically explains the RPG map-side of things.

As mentioned from this footage, the whole map has been divided into hex spaces. By pressing the middle key, the screen will automatically switch into a resource map filled with various repeated symbols. The colorful hexes actually represent lands that the player’s clan controls, but the grey ones are not.
“Some resources include cultivatable land for rice generation, trade-centers (such as villages, roads, ferry points, and–so on–that can generate currency or mon), or fresh water resources, and so on. “
However, one does not simply take ownership of a node and expect an automatic sudden growth of resource, especially in Battle Realms! As noted, players must manage “peasants” during clan management interphase and assign them to work at specific areas. By completing this action, they will eventually be born each day and eventually die over time. Henceforth, why the developer mentions “rice generations”.
Additionally, these same peasants can still learn how trade or train. By training them, they eventually become combat cards! Of course, many more secrets and surprises are in this innovative project. For one, these battle cards can actually evolve or morph during combat phases. However, this is just a tip of the iceberg that’s slowly melting.
As a quick reminder, Battle Realms Legends is currently a kickstarter project that hasn’t reached its targeted goal. With nine days left, Liquid Entertainment must find more financial support to grow the $42,354 into $100,000 USA dollars.
