The Nokia Lumia 925 is a smart phone that was released in 2013 and is popular thanks to the Windows 8 operating system that it runs. We will be comparing it with the HTC desire 816 which was released early in 2014 and runs the android 4.4.2 version 5.5 user interface. Both phones are popular in their own right as well designed smartphones that can do a variety of different functions and in this review we will be outlining what they can do.

The Nokia lumia 925 is 5.8″ x 2.78″ and is 0.33 inches thick. The HTC desire 816 is 6.17″ x 3.10″ and has a thickness of 0.31 inches. The HTC desire is also slightly heavier, weighing 5.82 ounces rather than the Nokia lumia which weighs 4.90 ounces. Both phones have good quality displays however the HTC desire 816 has a slightly larger physical size of 5.5 inches compared to 4.5 inches of the Nokia. The resolution of the Nokia is still lightly larger than that of the HTC and comes in at 768 x 1280 pixels. The HTC is 720 x 1280 pixels. The pixel density of the Nokia is 334 PPI compared to the HTC which is only 267 PPI. Both phones have a Multi-Touch display and include other features such as a light sensor and a proximity sensor.

Both phones also contain high-quality cameras and the HTC has a 13 megapixel quality, compared to the Nokia which only has an 8.7 megapixel quality. Both phones feature a LED flash as well as other features such as autofocus geo-tagging and touch to focus features. Both phones also feature a camcorder which is 1080p HD, as well as a front facing camera.

The system chip in the Nokia is a QUALCOMM snapdragon S4 and this is the same in the HTC except the QUALCOMM snapdragon is a 400 instead. The Nokia features a dual core 1500 MHz Krait processor and the HTC features a quad core 1600 MHz arm cortex A7. Both phones also feature built-in storage, however the Nokia is twice as big as the HTC at 16 GB. The HTC does however have storage expansion which the Nokia does not have and can be implemented with a micro SD card.

The talk time in 3G mode for the Nokia is only 12 hours and 80 minutes but for the HTC it is 21 hours. The standby time for the Nokia is 18.3 days and for the HTC it is 30.7 days which is again a dramatic increase. Both phones are competitive within the world of modern smartphones however we would choose the HTC thanks to the increased battery time that it has over the Nokia model.
